Photographer Behind the Lens ~ Natasha Megan Photography

Share a little about you...

Hey I’m Tash from Natasha Megan Photography, Based in Adelaide, South Australia. I am a newborn and family photographer. I’m a wife, and a mama to 3 beautiful girls, I find constant inspiration from my girls... and this is where my love for photography started… Capturing my babies as they are to remember every little detail.

How did your photography career being?

I first picked up a camera just over 7 years ago after my daughter was born, I quit my job in finance and every year since I have just been blown me away with where this career has taken me!

Describe your style in one stance:

Neutral & Timeless, with the focus of my images always being all about the baby.

What do you love most about photography?

I love capturing emotion and connection between people, the journey of a family and the pure love that exists like no other the moment you become a parent.

Share with us your all-time favourite image, and why:

Ohh this is a hard one! I have soo many favourites... but this twin image is definitely up there as one of my faves!

Share a sneak peek inside your camera bag! What is your favourite lens and why?

My camera body is a canon 1dx and my fave lens... it’s split right down the middle between my 50 & 35! My newborn only poses are all shot with my 50mm, but I adore the sigma art 35mm for my parent photos ❤️

Share a sneak peek of your studio

What's inside your editing toolbox? What post processing tips/tools do you love the most?

I use Adobe Bridge for culling, and then all my editing is in photoshop... the one editing action set I couldn’t do without is definitely Erin Tole’s paintbox.

For a bit of fun…. share an image from your first paid session and from your most recent session! What has contributed most to your development as a photographer?

Haha this is always a bit of fun! This is the very first newborn image I ever took, in July 2014 and one from today’s newborn!

I am self taught in studio lighting and parent posing, and I have tried to remain true to myself and what I love and not follow trends. Which is why I feel I am so confident in my own style… because I have influenced myself.

What is your #1 tip for photographers:?

Spend your money on education over props, learning safety when posing and working with newborns needs to always be your priority.

Share your classes, presets and more!

While I do offer mentoring, all my online teaching are in collaboration with other photographers xx

What new and exciting things are you looking forward to, in your business?

I am looking forward to being the guest feature for Rachel Vanoven in the collective in Sept! and I can not wait to be able to travel and teach again!
But honestly, I look forward to every single session so much! I’m so grateful to spend my days doing something I adore so much!
